Art Wells has culled 3000-year-old
Chinese wisdom from the I Ching and made it available in a handy
Web oracle. Whenever you have a problem or a question, ask it here
and get an answer from the I Ching. The results don't always make
perfect sense. But at least answers like "We obscure what we stand
upon" will get your mind off your initial problem.

Dale, I wrote to you many weeks

2,000 responses poured in. To better share the results, we started

http://www.darwinawards.com
In today's modern society, it's
easy to conclude that the age-old process of natural selection has
itself become extinct. But a quick visit to this site will prove
the contrary. It is filled with news accounts of people who met
an untimely demise due to nothing more than their own substandard
intelligence genes. Take for example, the enterprising genius who
hopped a fence at the Grand Canyon to retrieve some good luck coins
tossed in by his fellow tourists and (surprise!) fell to his death.
New stories are added each month, and there are eight years of archives
just waiting for you. And just when you're starting to believe that
truth is indeed stranger than fiction, head over to the urban legends
section, which is filled with even more outrageous and shocking
stories.

The title says it all: stop by
for a survey of the current state of press freedom around the world.
Central to this important site is an A to Z of country reports,
a sometimes frightening testimony to the lack of independent media
around the globe. (Especially poignant is the top-page world map
that delineates between free and restricted press.) You'll also
find charts and statistics, the complete report in PDF format, and
an explanation of the survey's methodology. Be sure to read the
essay titled "The Internet and Press Freedom," which ends: "The
independence of the Internet becomes the newest test of a government's
will to encourage and sustain a free press." So there.

If not, then you probably don't want to know that Mensa's youngest
